No More Connecting Flight: The World Longest Flight

Jake Blake

It is always a pain for a passenger when it comes to connecting flight to reach the final destination, meanwhile with the latest technology in each and every sector aviation also has something new to share. Recently Qatar airways introduce their world’s longest flight one way from Doha, Qatar to Auckland, New Zealand over a distance of 14,539 kilometers in 17 hours, 30 minutes.

To test the endurance of passenger and crew and airline logistics.

While we haven’t yet found a way to get rid of jet lag, effects of pressurization and lower cabin oxygen content, aviation has come a long way.

What’s New?

While Arab country already proves their technology powers how it can leave aviation behind, Qatar airways already stole the title of world’s longest flight from Doha to Auckland who in March 2016 announces their 14,539 route journey kilometers in 17 hours, 30 minutes. Which recently come into operations in Feb 2017.

There New Competitors:

Qantas has already announced to launch their first regular passenger flight to directly link Australia with Europe with 14,498-kilometer service between Perth and London in March 2018.

Who Quit:

In 2103 Singapore airlines announces to quit their service from Singapore to New York 19-hour 16,000-kilometer flight. This was at the time the longest flight route which quit because of low profitability. The state-of-the-art Airbus A350-900ULR has a range of over 16,000 kilometers it’s this aircraft that Singapore Airlines is planning to use to re-launch their Singapore to New York route that it previously operated with a four-engine Airbus A340-500.

The predicament for Travellers:

Technology also comes with its pros and corns to different people while in this case, the economy class passenger has to challenge both their mind and body to sit on those long haul flights in cramped seats.

Though experts are trying their best working hard to improve economy seat design this will be the relief stress-free upgrade.

But there is another concern other than comfort as by experts is the higher humidity level in economy class because of all bodies breathing close to each other in close proximity, which can eventually affect the higher possibility of issues like corrosion.

Not only this higher cabin pressure can also decrease the level of oxygen which can be a concern for passenger health condition.

What’s next?

As everything comes with advancement in technology by the time some innovator hope to bring supersonic flight to the commercial aviation sector and even more futurist concept is aim which is suborbital travel where you can travel from one point on Earth to another in a matter of minutes.
