History of Fatburger

Kyle Joe

Fatburger was established in 1947. It was an idea of two African-American founders Charles Simpson and Lovie Yancey. They both were husband and wife. Their motive was to establish Fatburger to provide the best burgers at a reasonable cost.

They opened their first restaurant in Los Angeles, California. It was the first outlet primarily serving burgers and was named Mr. Fatburger. The fat burger restaurant was built with leftover materials and featured just three stools for dining.

Fatburger’s name was like something juicy and tasty Burger which is made of fresh vegetables, beef, and grills. Fatburger belongs to the “fast food burger chain” and is regarded as the most proficient startup of the last century. When you come to Fatburger and you don’t have patience or time to wait, this is the wrong place for you.

Because at this place, burgers are cooked and made for order in good and old-fashioned methodology. The company was growing well and became successful but at that time it got divided and the couple got separated.

The Yancey store renamed the restaurant Fatburger and dropped the “M” from the name. Once Yancey said in an interview, “I don’t worry about McDonald’s, Burger King, or Wendy’s. Because she thinks they were making better hamburgers than any popular Burger restaurant. Yancey continuously opened successful branches; she opened the first Beverly Hills Branch in 1973.

In the 1980s the burger chain was led by the franchisee and they expanded even greater. The company name got a place in Entrepreneur magazines as one of the fastest-growing burger chains in America and also won first place in those years.

Furthermore, as the years passed, Fatburger started setting its high ambition and established another Fatburger outside of California in the 1990s.

That ambition setting was more aggressive expansion and because of that fat burger set up two restaurants in Las Vegas in the early 1990s. These two new restaurants witnessed remarkable growth and accounted for huge profits.
