Wonderful Worship: New Delhi Explored

There are several lovely places that every tourist must visit in Delhi. When planning your Mumbai New Delhi flights schedule, be sure to keep the following list in your itinerary.

1. Lotus Temple

Out of the several familiar landmarks that you will find all around Delhi, this is one of the most spectacular. It is modelled after a 27 petal, holy lotus flower. The Lotus Temple is made out of beautiful white marble. Although it is actually constructed as a place of worship for the Bahá’í faith, people from all religions are welcome to use it as a place of worship. This is the philosophy of the Bahá’í. When you near the temple, you will see pretty gardens that are very well maintained.  After receiving a few mins of briefing on not using your cell phones and maintaining silence, you will be allowed to enter the Lotus Temple. You can stay there for as much time as you want, basking in the tranquil atmosphere.

2. ISKCON Hare Krishna Temple

The ISKON Hare Krishna Temple is situated a mere 15min walk from the beautiful Lotus Temple. It is one of the biggest and most fascinating temples ever constructed by ISKON or the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. Founded in the United States of America, this is a religious movement that has made its presence felt all throughout our country. When you visit this interesting temple, you will be allowed to walk around the area as you please. This can be followed by sitting in the holy sanctuary where you can hear the constant resounding of a drum beat and the chant of ‘Hare Krishna.’

3. Jama Masjid

Constructed in the era of the Mughal Empire, the Jama Masjid is situated at the Chawri Bazar, and is extremely close to the ChandniChowk. It was built along with several other popular sites in Delhi and is the biggest mosque in Delhi. The massive building was constructed in the 17th century and has several entrances, each of which take you to the main deck of worship. The Jama Masjid has a couple of really tall minarets along with a few domes that are shaped like onions. The upper floor of this structure is simply massive and can hold more than 25,000 visitors at once! The mosque is also surrounded by excellent restaurants such as Karim’s.

4. Gurudwara Bangla Sahib

This Sikh temple is undoubtedly one of the most amiable places you will ever go to in your lives. It has a very comfortable atmosphere and is highly inviting.  You will never be asked for any sort of donation, or money or anything of the sort. All you are expected to do is leave your footwear outside before entering. There is a safe deposit locker room for the same. The Gurudwara Bangla Sahib has an amazing water body outdoors at one side, a medical facility, as well as a facility for dining which allows for numerous people to be served meals every day.
