But now, we got information that due to COVID pandemic Make my Trip is going to fire around 350 employees. Hence, the travel and tourism industry is one of the most impacted industries due to the COVID pandemic.
From the updates, it has been noted that company’s executive chairman Deep Kalra wrote a letter to all the employees and said that “the pandemic of COVID has changed the context and viability of some business lines in current forms”, and there need to be some strategic changes so that we can ensure long term sustainability. In order to make everything easy, Make my Trip is going to continue by providing medical insurance for employees and their family members till the end of 2020. Moreover, they are going to get encashment and other benefits and all the employees can take laptops provided by the company to their home and many more other things as per the terms set by the company.
Probing further, all the co-founders of the company said that they are working on zero salaries from the month of April and other staff members are also facing a 50% salary cut. Along with Make my Trip, Swiggy, Ola, Uber, and other companies have also fired employees because of this pandemic outbreak of COVID. Most of the companies are offering placement support, medical insurance, and other benefits to the company. Therefore, the job layoffs are not shared with the people but have impacted so many jobs in the nation India. COVID pandemic has impacted the industries a lot, employers are facing severe losses as well.
