According to the government’s announcement, schools are going to reopen from Monday after a gap of 5 months. Under Unlock 4, the central government of India gave permission to the states for opening the schools from September 21st. However, the state government is having the authority whether they want to resume schools or not. Citing a large number of COVID cases there are so many states that said that they are not going to resume the classes from Monday.

Few states like Assam, Karnataka are going to open schools after a week. According to the unlock guidelines, issued by the government the schools are only going to have 50% of teaching staff only. Moreover, the students from classes 9 to 12th are the only age groups going to start their schooling from Monday. Students will have to come with a consent slip from their parents after that only they can proceed with their classes. However, there are so many teachers and students who are containment zones that will not allow coming to schools.

Probing further, all the COVID norms should be strictly follow by the students visiting the school. This means that students will have to wear masks, wash their hands, sanitize them when entering the class. Thermal scanners will also be available at the school for scanning the body temperature. Furthermore, schools are asked to open different entry gates and exit points, if they can as this will help in maintaining distancing. The ministry has stated that schools must ensure virtual class continuation throughout the period.

Some of the states that are going to open are Assam and many more. They will resume classes for students between 9 to 12. After 15 days the situation will be reviewed and decisions will be made. Haryana government says that students can visit the school only if they need guidance or else schools will remain closed. In Himachal Pradesh, schools will reopen from Monday. Karnataka students also agreed to open school but senior students are the only ones who can come. However, in Chandigarh, only 15 students can sit in a class. And that too students can come in batches of two hours each.

However, some states Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Uttarakhand, West Bengal are against the opening up of classes. Hence, this is all that you should know about the reopening of schools.
