Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, expressed that the country is now ready to have a peace talk. Moreover, he has dragged the subject of the Istanbul Agreement, signed during the war’s first weeks. The provisions of that Agreement can form the basis for establishing a peace talk with Ukraine and Russia in this war scenario.
At the same time, Putin stated India can become the mediator in the discussion for potential peace. However, Brazil and China can also participate in this matter. Only a few days ago, Volydymr Zelensky, the Ukraine President, said that he was going to the United States to show a “victory plan.” Undoubtedly, the country is making all possible efforts to win the War. Zelensky is expecting a positive response by meeting American President Joe Biden. Just after this statement, Putin’s remark about mediators came to the limelight.
Current Scenario of the War
Currently, Moskow is advancing towards Ukraine’s Eastern region. Both the countries are indulged in serious War by striking through drone attacks. As a result, the key infrastructures of the nations are suffering damages and other collateral losses. At the same time, Ukraine is trying to take control of the Kursk region of Russia. Ukraine’s East part is lying under the control of Russia from February of 2022. The former is trying hard to regain it back from the latter through repeated attacks.
Putin’s Version About War Scenario
Keeping in view the present scenario, Putin’s remarks about “Peace Talk” may seem justified. The incursion into the Kursk region three weeks ago came as a reference in the statement of Putin. He wants Kyiv to negotiate to let the War stop at this point.
The advancements in Russia’s Kursk, Kyiv being the leader, implies a significant turn of event in the War. However, the Ukraine-Russia War is now casting a global impact. In the opinion of the Russian President, this movement from Ukraine’s side is undoubtedly part of a bigger plan. Therefore, the effect will be significant in the long run. He also added that the aim of such an initiative must be to force Russia to conclude.
Vladimir Putin is ready to accept a peaceful end of War, marking a new era for both nations. However, it can be possible only when Kyiv is willing to settle the matter. In the interview, Putin emphasized this fact and stated that the War is likely to end on a positive note. For that, Kyiv has to be ready to Negotiate.
Remarks of Zelensky
On August 28, Zelensky indicated a Thumbs Up for the remarks of Vladimir Putin regarding the Peace Talk. He is always willing to end the War. After all, that would be the best thing for Ukraine.
However, such a talk is not going to become a reality very soon. It is evident from the statement of Sergei Lavrov, the Foreign Minister of Russia. On August 19, he pointed out that Ukraine now holds over 1,200 square km in the Kursk region.
Role of India
Narendra Modi, India’s PM, held a meeting with Kyiv on August 23. He has a 9-hour-long discussion about Ukraine’s current situation with Zelensky. He gave assurance to the President, and urged him to have a discussion with Russia. Restoration of peace is highly necessary. If needed, India is ready to mediate to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
In the current situation, such a discussion is highly evident. Only six weeks before this meeting, Modi also visited Moscow for a conversation with Vladimir Putin. He emphasized to both the parties that solutions to any problem come through War. In the same process, he also made telephonic conversations with Putin and Biden. He gave word that India will have an active role in this case to ensure a complete end to the War.
