In between the ongoing crises between India and China, the Defense Ministry of India has decided to purchase something very cool for IAF (Indian Air Force). Ergo, it has been noticed that the decision has been taken due to the wake of high tensions along LAC (Line of Actual Control) in Ladakh where the Chinese and Indian troops have been in a standoff of position from last so many weeks. The Defense Ministry of India on Thursday approved a proposal and this proposal is to acquire around 33 fighter jets including 12 Su-30 MKIs and 21 MiG-29s. Along with the purchase of these 33 new fighter jets, the ministry has decided to upgrade the 59 MiG-29s with a cost of Rs. 18,148 crore.

In a statement of Thursday, the Defense Ministry claimed something after the meeting at Defense Acquisition Council (DAC). The statement given by the Defense Ministry after the meeting is that we are going to address the long-felt need of IAF to increase its fighter squadrons. Furthermore, they claimed that we have already approved the proposal for the procurement of 12 Su-30 MKIs and 21 MiG-29s along with upgradation of 59 MiG-29s. Apart from Sukhoi-30s and upgraded MiG-29 fighter jets, IAF is also going to operate Apache AH-64E and CH-45F (I). It has also been found that MiG 29 procurement and upgradation are going to be done from the nation Russia and will cost a lot whereas the Su-30 MKI will be procured from HAL at an estimated cost of 10730 crores.

DAC (Defense Acquisition Council) has also approved acquisitions from various platforms and the equipment required by the IAF is around Rs. 38,900 crore. Moreover, the DAC has cleared the acquisition of 248 Astra Beyond Visual Range air-to-air missiles for both the IAF (Indian Air Force) and Navy. Therefore, the design and development of new 1000 kilometers strike range Land Attack Cruise Missile by the DRDO has also been cleared. Ergo, these decisions are taken just because of the increasing tensions on the borders of both India and China.

IAF has now raised its guard to deal with any of the military provocations by the Chinese troops and a high state of alert has also been ordered. Hence, the Indian Armed Forces have now deployed their defense systems properly in eastern Ladakh and People Liberation Army-Air Force has also activated several of the basis in Xinjiang and the Tibet Autonomous Region.
