Bangalore Girl Filed Case Against Chetan Bhagat on Plagiarism

While author Chetan Bhagat one book “Five point someone” got inclusion in English Literature Syllabus of Delhi University, His another bestseller “ One Indian Girl” got in trouble when A Bangalore Author Anvita Bajpai, an IIT And IIM graduate filed a case against Chetan Bhagat in a Bangalore court which granted temporary injection restraining  sales of book “One Indian Girl”.

How it all Started

It all started when Anvita meet Chetan Bhagat at a Bangalore Literature Festival in 2014 when she gave her a copy of a book “Life, Odd, and Ends” for writing review. She claimed that one Indian girl character, places were picked up by one of her short story “Drawing Parallels” in the book. And also claimed a damage of 1 Lakh rupees.

Chetan bhagat Replies

On which Bhagat rubbished the allegation of plagiarism and said that his book is nowhere related to Bajpai’s book. “This is totally deeply unfortunate” as I have never read this author book my work is original including “One Indian Girl” and it is unthinkable for me to do something like this And my publishers and the legal team taking up some steps to solve the matter.

Meanwhile, Anvita’s Book Rupa publishers refused to comment on this matter which they have published in 2014, 2 years before Bhagat’s One Indian girl book.

Social Media war

On few facebook post saying her monetary intent,  She says her technical education already pays her one of the highest pay jobs, so if I am money minded I have already been busy in coding and presentation rather than posting about plagiarism on my book.

She also took exception on Bhagat referring her as someone rather than another author or an alumni author she said one day I got the message from friends who were angry on Bhagat calling me someone in his FB post she said. ” I smiled thinking if right addressing is so important to him then firstly resulted in me thinking about writing this post that how come there is so much similarity between my “Drawing Parallel” story and his novel ‘One Indian Girl’?

Bhagat’s One Indian Girl his seventh novel is all about an investment banker Radhika Mehta who is stuck to choose a right guy between three guys in her life, while trying to different image in front of her family, whereas in Anvita’s “Drawing parallel” story is also centered on a women and her journey through three relationship.
